Kudzu Kreations

We are doing all kinds of fun things this summer. One of them is participating in our local library's summer reading program. On Wednesday, Jume 10, Nancy Basket was at the library to teach us about her trade, making baskets. However, we didn't make a basket, but a bird's nest. She had stems of kudzu (who knew?) that we were supposed to strip until it was thin enough to make something. She instructed us on how to make the bird's nest bottom, and then she showed us how to make the sides of the nest. All the kids enjoyed it, and I believe the adults did, too. :o) We found out that Ms. Nancy has a house in her backyard that she built from kudzu, so maybe there's some use for all the kudzu that's around after all. :o)

After the nest making, we went in to check out some books. The kids and one of their friends decided to make use of the rug in the floor and read one of their books. :o) We all had a good time and learned alot, too.

POOL FUN

We had a good time swimming and playing around in the pool. We're thankful to have friends who do not mind us taking a refreshing dip when it is so warm outside. The kids absolutely love it as do Carl and I. :o) Thank you, friends!!!!!!!

Mountain Memories

I really liked how vibrant the colors were in these pictures. We arrived in the mountains on Memorial Day, May 25, 2009, and we all had dressed patriotically. When I saw the scenery, I knew I had a pretty backdrop for the photo shoot, even though I hadn't planned a photo shoot. :o)

In this picture, S. was telling Carl that I wanted them to look at me. I think the photo turned out super cute. It's probably one of my favorites.

We had an indoor pool, so of course we all had to enjoy it. That is, until C. cut his foot on the drain of the hot tub.

The next day, we headed to Dollywood. The kids really enjoyed the water pad. We all had a good time.

Flying High

I don't know what it is, but I love to fly a kite. The kids have really enjoyed it, too, as well as Carl. Carl was able to let the string ALL the way out, and let the kite soar WAAAAAAAAyYYYYY up in the sky...

Little P. turned 1 year old on May 23 and had a luau party.

Mema about lost her coconuts........... :o)
