Sniff! Sniff!

Charlotte died today. Maybe you know Charlotte. She's the little grey spider that saved Wilbur's life. I know it's kind of corny, but I actually teared up as I read Charlotte's Web to my children today during school. Maybe I just got so caught up in the storyline. Maybe I know how precious friendship is. Maybe I'm getting older and appreciating things more. It doesn't matter that I've read the book many times before, but this time it tugged at my heart.

I blame E. B. White. He has such a unique way of presenting the conversations between Charlotte and Wilbur. I got attached to Wilbur and admired Charlotte for wanting to stick up for her friend, going to great lengths to save his life.

Well, tomorrow Charlotte's babies will be born. I guess 514 little grey spiders will begin their mission then. :o)

Sweet dreams, everyone!!

I know what you mean about Charlotte--I always get a bit teary at the end of that book (and one of my children, who shall remain nameless, does too). Isn't it precious to read aloud to your kids, though? I hope mine never get too old to want me to read to them (by the time they're too old, I'll probably have grandkids to read to).

I LOVED Charlotee's web as a child. Gracie is really into reading now and I completely forgot about this wonderful classic. I think I'll buy a copy today and so we get started reading.

Thanks for the reminder.
